Rather than rational perfection, we seek grounded warmth and understated plainness in our designs, which leaves room for personal appropriation and enables an emotional connection with our objects. Equally stable and versatile, our furniture accompanies the natural flow of life and is suitable for everyday use in the best sense.
Our first series of solid wood furniture is hand-crafted in small batches in a family-run business in south-west Germany. In line with our philosophy, we generally work with finishes that preserve and emphasise the natural character of the wood. Thanks to our small-scale production, we are also able to consider personal requests for the surface design.

Growing up in a family with generations of wood craftsmen, Stefan Wölfle founded Coarsee out of his passion for craftsmanship and his enthusiasm for humble and unpretentious design. In addition to his original profession as a graphic designer, his fascination for traditional Japanese aesthetics also flow into the philosophy of Coarsee.
